It’s that time of year again… Back-to-School. Shopping for new clothing or school supplies doesn’t have to be stressful. Across the country, numerous states offer its residents a weekend of tax exemptions on items such as clothing, shoes, school supplies and more. The proclaimed “holiday” gives people and their families an opportunity to save anywhere from 4-8% or more on back-to-school items. Want to know which dates your state is holding their tax free weekend? Here are a helpful list of the states who participate and the back-to-school items that qualify* for the savings!

Alabama: August 7-9

Clothing $100 or less (per article)
Computers, computer software and school computer supplies per single purchase with sales price of $750 or less
School supplies, school art supplies, and school instructional material $50 or less (per item/noncommercial)
Books $30 or less (per book/noncommercial)

Connecticut: August 16-22

Clothing and Footwear $100

Florida: Aug 7-16

Clothing, shoes, and accessories $100 or less (per item)
Back-to-School Supplies $15 or less (per item)
Computers and Computer Accessories applying to the first $750 of the sales price (personal/noncommercial)

Iowa: August 7-8

Clothing and shoes under $100 (Jewelry, watches, and watchbands, umbrellas, and sports equipment not included)

Louisiana: August 7-8

Purchases under $2,500 (excluding taxable services, automobiles, and meals)

Maryland: August 9-15

Clothing and footwear priced at $100 or less

Missouri: August 7-9
